Dear Friend,

There is so much going on! I love being back in the swing of things and now that I’m pretty far into the second week I feel like I’m finally on a “schedule” of sorts. Tomorrow I get back to work at Gift & Thrift where I will be working as a cashier on Friday evenings and every other Saturday. I’ve also been getting back into the pattern of going to class, reading textbooks, and trying to spend some time having fun (which isn’t too hard to do).

Thursday, for example, I had the pleasure of going to A Bowl of Good for dinner with Ethan Zook, a friend from my years in SVCC (The Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir) and last weekend I flew out to Washington for Heidi Fish, er, Donnelly’s Wedding! Heidi and Evan’s Wedding was beautiful and I can’t wait to see where the future will take them. While there I got to see all sorts of people who I haven’t seen in too many years like the Evans, Crandalls, Nelsons, and especially the Edigers! As people who have been like family to me I can’t really remember a time when they haven’t been important people in my life and too see them again felt like coming home.

I also got spend a little time at JMU this week, visiting my friends Carissa and Gennie. Gennie then followed Megan and I back to EMU for dinner, and lo and behold we had all 7 Tea Pot girls back together for the first time since beach week after we graduated from high-school. So we had a picture taken, cause that just doesn’t happen every day. Hopefully, I’ll be visiting JMU a LOT this year. Last year I really didn’t take advantage of how close it is and ended up missing some of my close friends who are over there. You shouldn’t have to miss you best friend if they’re living less than 10 miles away! So Megan and I are planning on visiting some of our Friends over there on a regular basis.

As far as changes go I’m planning on switching up some of my programs. What I mean by this is that I am planning on exchanging my Art/Peacebuilding minors for a Math minor. This is for several reasons including the fact that I’m interested in possibly being a math teacher through Teach for America (Maybe in the Seattle/Tacoma area, but really wherever they would send me) and also that I’ve really missed math class. I know, it sounds strange to most people but in the midst of my love for the social sciences and the lack of black and white answers, I also like balance… which I find in the clarity of math. Go figure.

Anyways, just thought I’d catch you up!

Lots of Love, Mandi Jo
